California Couture L-601; ©1968; Don Loper - Misses' Dress and Coat. "The pattern we show today is that marvelous amalgamation of coat and dress that lives the busiest life in town. Don Loper, the designer, making 1968 as his 13th anniversary as a courtuier, invests his designs with the same good taste he has always displayed, without gimmicks or tricks. He uses fine wool in an unusual black and white check in this coat dress which buttons all the way down the front under a placket closing. Easy godet pleats flip the skirt out in a crisp flare 12 inches above the hem. Set-in sleeves give the high, narrow line, and the set-a-way collar frames any fill-in from turtlenecks to emeralds. Loper believes that good manners and a dignified code of behavior are still the basis of good taste, mixed as he puts it "with just a soupcon of humor."
