I checked on how the original feature was added, and it appears that someone had to code it. Here is a quote from DressADay on January 9, 2008:
...JSharp, who has just coded a magnificent new feature for us ... if you go to any pattern page in the wiki, check up at the top, right by the page title: there's now a link that will take you to the next pattern, in alphabetical order! ...
