McCall's 9322; ca. 1968; Smocked Hat and Bag.  Quick jumbo smocking makes soft, unlined hat with deep brim which can be worn up, down or puffed.  The crown will stretch to fit all headsizes.  Fabric is pleated on crown and gathered up under a self-covered button in the center.  Matching bag is slipped over a buckram foundation with self or contrast lining.  Bottom of bag is the same as the top of hat.  Fabric covered cable cord is slipped through rings sewn inside the cuff.  Both items may also be made in 1" (2.5cm) checked gingham, backed with nylon net and smocked without using the transfer. Cord on gingham bag is covered with bias tape.
