Simplicity 3509; ©1951; Misses' One-Piece Dress: Short kimono sleeves style the bodice. Style 1, in lengthwise striped fabric, has a self-fabric tie collar, cuffs and band trim. The Skirt is gathered. Style 2 is fashioned with a low neckline and trimmed with a peplum and ball fringe. The skirt is softly pleated.

Style 2 was sewn (complete with pom-pom trim) for Minnesota History Center's 2008 RetroRama, which I wrote about here. Many compliments were received on the dress through the evening from others in attendance, my favorite by an older gentlemen who likely was a young man in the late 50s. Runway photo of dress here.
