Vogue Paris Original 1199; ca. 1952; All around darted skirt has inverted pleats at side fronts concealing slot pockets. Skirt joins the bodice at waist-line. Front closing to hip depth below wide shaped neck-line. Below elbow length sleeves, with inverted pleat released above lower edge, set into shaped armholes.
"JACQUES HEIM showed this late-day dress in black and white cut velvet. The neckline is new – and one you’ll see more of: high in front but slit so wide as to be practically off the shoulder. The top moulded, but not plastered and, as always this year, an easiness at the back." (from Vogue, October 15, 1952)
