Vogue S-4917; ca. 1948; ONE-PIECE DRESS. Full-length gown has gathered bodice details that form a soft, drape-effect from shoulder to waist.  Neckline is a deep, narrow sweetheart.  Sleeves may be short with a similar drape-effect or long and narrow.  The flowing, gored skirt falls from smooth, contoured yokes at the hip. The dress is not lined, but looks stunning in lace over a color coordinated slip.  The combination of soft gathers and tailored fit are the key.

Featured in Vogue Pattern Book, October/November 1948 and in Vogue Patterns catalog, Summer & Fall 1949. The pattern appears to have been reissued in 1951.
